Coming to Your Aid

As a small business, even if you are a sole proprietor or solopreneur, having a First Aid Kit and Plan is a must.

According to Wikipedia: One set of goals of first aid is called the "Three P's":

  • Preserve life – stop the person from dying

  • Prevent further injury – stop the person from being injured even more. If possible, an injured person should not be moved. First aid can include how to safely move injured people -- or move them anyway with less harm if there is no choice.

  • Promote recovery – try to help the person heal their injuries.

One of the first items we purchased for our office was a First Aid Kit. They come in various sizes and can be tailored to the needs of your business. We have used it for a few minor cuts.

Our office building also has AEDs installed on every floor. Automated External Defibrillators need to be used by people trained in CPR. Our landlord offers a class to be Certified. And, recently, an AED was successfully used on an employee within one of the many businesses that occupy our office building. With proper training and available equipment, a life was saved!

We recently had an experience at our project site. A person received a paper cut from an envelope that contained some samples we need to analyze. The amount of blood that cut released was sufficient to require the use of a first aid kit. Luckily, Illuminate had what was needed immediately available. Blood can run all over equipment and clothing, even from what can be described as a minor cut.

This incident made me reach out to one of our Brand Promotional Suppliers. The idea of providing personal first aid kits seemed like a good one. We are currently awaiting receipt of those kits. We will make sure anyone on our project sites going forward is given one. They come in many sizes, shapes, materials, and colors so it may be a good idea to order some for your employees or project sites, if your business brings you offsite.

At the end of the day, First Aid for you, your employees, and business should be a top priority. A solid First Aid Kit and Plan sets the foundation for whenever safety requires its use. And taking the opportunity to brand some personal kits is another way to be practical while creating marketing awareness for your brand.

Stay safe and make sure your company can come to the aid of anyone who may need it. Our dog of the week shows the energy and adrenaline that may be required to aid anyone in need.

Be well.
