Greening it Up
As our lengthy winter season fights to continue into the spring calendar, we turn to cherry blossom festivals and greener grass for inspiration to make it through the last bursts of winter. This may be an ideal time to green up your office space as well.
We recently had someone comment on a money tree plant that has been with us for many years. ‘It looks very happy’ was spot on commentary about this plant. We reposition it every time the plant leans towards the sunlight. That helps balance out the new growth and gives it a healthy look. Do not underestimate the power of plants in your space. They add oxygen and provide conversation when you may need it the most!
Depending on the space you have, the type of plants best suited to color up your space may vary. Our office is illuminated with sunshine throughout the day. Of course, that assumes there is sun to come in, which seems to be more and more a challenge in these longer winter seasons of recent. Since we do not have window coverings, it was important to identify plants that thrive more in full sun.
One plant that has thrived in my personal office space is a Bamboo Plant. They are often given as gifts for good luck. In fact, ‘Lucky Bamboo’ is a term often used to describe the plant itself. It actually hails from West Africa and is very tolerant of dry areas. It has been given to me twice by friends when I changed careers. Our current one has been thriving for nearly four (4) years now. It is always a conversation piece and a source of pride.
Plants can change your office space look and feel. They also add oxygen to your area, which is always a good addition. Consider greening up your space, research best houseplants for your type of sun during the day, and visit a local florist or plant shop.
Plants can be like dogs, they need to be trained to thrive in the best locations, and need to be fed and watered regularly. What they do not need are toys, so much less maintenance than adding a dog to your office environment! 😁
Help improve your carbon footprint. Make it a point to add greenery in your office space. It might just make for a much more positive work environment!
Be well.
