Show You Care
Every dog owner and every business owner need a good primary care team. Veterinarians and Physicians alike are critical to the mental and physical well being of both our pet companions and ourselves. But how can we help them?
We have often heard how challenging Veterinary work is. Hours are long, patients cannot speak to us with what is exactly wrong, and pay is not commensurate with their human peers. Primary Care Physicians for humans have similar issues in their business. As one recently said to me, ‘our system is broken’. I inquired what I could do to help - refer more clients, use the easiest insurance provider to work with, schedule more appointments. Her response to me was ‘thank you for caring and thank you for asking.’
When you consider who your circle of trust advisors are for you and your business, also consider those nontraditional members who keep you going and allow you to concentrate on your business. You may not be able to do anything directly to improve their payment stream amidst the regulations they must work within, but you can be kind and you can be appreciative.
Thank you cards, hand-written, flowers, fruit baskets, being kind and thankful when you see them, these are but a few of the efforts we can all make. Take a few moments each week and acknowledge colleagues who made things easier or better for you that week. Who helped you drive your business forward, whether directly or indirectly? Identify them and show them, in your own way, that you appreciate their support, their counsel, their advice. It has been my experience you can never say thank you enough.
There are many parts of owning a small business that can be very challenging. Finding affordable health insurance and a team of medical personnel to help improve your mental and physical health to run your business can be one of those. When you find the right support system, embrace their efforts, thank them, and appreciate the positive impact they have made on you and, by extension, your business.
Be well.
