Hiding in Plain Sight

When you own a small business, it is always gratifying to be given extra benefits with some of the affiiations you have. Remember to ask as they may be hiding in plain sight.

Recently, a client who has the same health insurance that I have decided to reach out to the Chamber that facilitates the insurance. They inquired about dental and eye vision discounts. To our surprise, the dental program was better than a stand alone one I was paying into and the vision discount program was quite generous. Hidden like a Diamond in the rough, there it was! All we had to do was ask.

The best return on my investment since opening Illuminate has clearly been through the Chamber of Commerce I joined. I will not be renewing the business journal nor the real estate association I joined nor the stand alone dental insurance. Sometimes, it takes a trial to realize what the benefits truly are. It is simply the cost of doing business. Testing the waters to see what sinks or swim as I look back.

If there is one area I can point to that has been beneficial for both professional education and personal benefits it is clearly the Chamber of Commerce. I have not attended any group events since the Pandemic but I believe I have a very positive return on my membership investment. The added vision discount program permitted me to purchase two (2) sets of eyeglasses and sunglasses and a steep discount from the retail cost. Hiding in plain sight, all pun intended!

So, make sure you take the time to dig for hidden treasures in any of your membership affiliations. You just might find the unexpected!
