‘Praying’ or Pointing: Churches, a most Unconventional Office Space

Have you ever noticed that GOD spelled backwards is DOG? Coincidence? Most dog owners believe not.

Recently. It was brought to my attention that many local churches are becoming great opportunities for reasonable office space for small businesses. One of our members in our women’s idea exchange network has her organization’s office in a glorious historic church and we recently toured the space. It was bright, spacious, and truly felt like a small community.

One of our first Blogs centered around Commercial Leases. It seems that the church offerings fall into an ideal situation for a small business owner or solopreneur. Usually, at least locally, utilities and WiFi are included. Parking is usually extra but the dreaded Triple Net Leases are not in use here. And that is something to celebrate as a tenant!

Some of the best amenities offered in this type of space are large ceilings and gorgeous historic doorways. Stained Glass Windows, detailed crown molding are also impressive features. And the feeling of tranquility was perhaps the most impressive part of my tour. It had me thinking that if Illuminate were seeking new office space, church space would likely be at the top of the list!

In addition to the above, most are dog/pet friendly. I was even able to throw a tennis ball for one of the tenant’s dogs, sound familiar? Making a Point Spokesdog, Lâffey the Pied Barbet, surely would be in heaven there! (All pun intended!)

So, the next time you are seeking office space for you or your organization, search for some great old church space! And if you have a dog, bring your pet with you and see if they declare the space suitable! Anything we can share with our pets is always a blessing!

Be well.
