Making a Splash with Your Sign
I am always fascinated by the types of signs businesses choose to convey their brand. So many choices, and yet only one chance to make the right first impression.
There are many options for a business owner when it comes to an exterior sign for their company. It certainly helps to stick with the logo you use for your business cards. Keep the brand message consistent. You can enhance your logo by using different material such as stone, wood, metal. And, there is always flashing neon.
Who should make the sign? We went with a door wrap and had our Brand Manager work with one of her vendors who made the sign and fitted it onto the door. If there is a need in the future to create a new exterior sign, I would like to try a different material. I would go directly to a sign company and go from there. Should I find myself there, I will report back on my experience in that week’s Blog.
One aspect to always remember concerns zoning. There are always limits and requirements on the type of exterior signage in any municipality. A good sign company will know what those are. And if you find yourself in an historically significant location, you will need to make sure you are following those guidelines as well.
With so many types of signs, make sure you choose the one that best reflects you and your company. It is a message to the world about who or what is behind the door.
Make it count. Make it significant. Make it consistent. Let it tell your story for you.
Be well.
