When the Past Comes Calling, Answer.
Dogs often remember people and places they frequented years ago. They have solid memories for special times and special people. Is it worth a visit to your past for some inspiration for your future?
Recently, we had the opportunity to connect with a colleague from years ago. We reminisced about the good times and lamented about the not so good times. We caught up on friends and events that took up much of our lives for the past 5 years. And, to our surprise, we each had some hopes for the future that the other could help support. It was a lesson in keeping up friendships and being open to new beginnings or continued connections.
Another client of ours received a call from a colleague she had worked with decades ago. His situation found himself in a position where he felt reconnecting with her could be beneficial for both their current firms. He had kept up with her career through one of the many trade associations they both were active within. Finding her phone number was easy and preceding it with an email solidified she would accept his call.
If you find yourself stalling with regards to new business or new opportunities, think about past successes and past acquaintances. Buried within those experiences may be people who could resurface in your world today and make tomorrow a more productive and successful place for your business.
Never underestimate the power of your past. If it sneaks up on you, give it a chance, and it just might help you move your business forward into the future.
Be well.
