Growth Comes in the Unfamiliar

Recently, the title of today’s blog was a comment made on a streaming show I was watching. It made me reflect on the truth behind the words.

it is always a good practice for a business to analyze or evaluate its current positioning. Many firms take advantage of annual planning in the September-October timeframe while working on the next year’s budget. But, while many medium to large sized firms due this as a matter of course, often solo entrepreneurs or micro businesses do not. But, should they?

Evaluating where you are and making the determination that you wish to move your business forward requires contemplation and forethought. And, yes, discomfort. But as the statement says, in discomfort comes growth.

If you need to hire a new employee, a new vendor, a new consultant, likely there will be discomfort, anxiety, second guessing. However, it will be worth it to power that discomfort. Many of the professional clients I have worked with in the past year have powered through many changes recently. It really is the level of passion for your service that will push you through necessary changes. That, and the right Circle of Trust Advisors!

While planning your next steps, your short term future for the business, know your strengths, know your competition,, and know who will and will not support you through the change and through the discomfort. Reassessing relationships is as important as evaluating which products or services need tuning or a complete overhaul.

Yes, change can create discomfort but it also creates opportunity. How you embrace that moment determines which it is. So, be like our stunning Australian Puppy, Jolly, in our photo today and embrace the change ahead of you. Your business will be the better for it.

Be well.
