A Pack & A Party

‘Tis the season as they say.  The Holidays are an ideal time to evaluate your firm and the party scene, especially post Pandemic,.

Over the years, I hosted several dog parties at my home.  We celebrated the arrival of a new member, toasted to  important birthdays, and marked special events among our pack.  The feeling of exhaustion comes over me as I recall the many parties.  And since the Pandemic, we have had none of these events.  Our celebrations have been mere acknowledgments to those in the past.  So, when is the time right, if ever, to celebrate milestones in a big way again?

Our firm is a sponsor of a holiday party for a professional category of colleagues this coming week.  It is the first sort of celebration to occur at our office since we leased it in late 2019, just a few months prior to the Pandemic.  We never even had an Open House.

This party is for a Committee of the local professional organization’s Climate Action Group.  Each attendee is asked to bring a dessert as it is a coffee/tea/hot chocolate dessert themed party.  We only expect about 15 - 20 people.

We will be offering masks for anyone who wishes to wear one.  Our office still has its original windows dating over one hundred years old so we receive plenty of fresh air even when they are closed.  This makes the temperature harder to control but comes in handy when seeking enhanced circulation.

We did invite a few key friends who know some of the professionals attending as well.  It should be a low key gathering with great homemade desserts and casual conversation amid a festively decorated space.  It just felt like it was time and a smaller get together seemed to be the most appropriate and welcome approach given life today.

For now, gone are the big parties and celebrations of old at our home and office. But we are excited to sponsor an organization whose cause is a part of our professional life.  With an open air atmosphere and a limited number of people, we are hopeful this begins a new trend in partying with our pack.

Be well.
